Stitched - Interlocking Rings Embroidery Sample

After completing the lovely kimono clutch bag last week, I started thinking about making a hand embroidered version. I started by making a stitched sample of an organic interlocking rings design. I drew the design onto a scrap of natural linen and then embroidered with blue cotton, silk and metallic threads. I think couching works really well for this project. Here are the two rings completed!

I'm planning to use a rustic tussah silk in a similar colour for the final version, and I want to extend the design into a chain of interlocking rings all along the clutch bag on both sides. Maybe I will introduce a few shades of purple, too!
